Das Pferd wählt die Haltung entsprechend seiner Kraft, Gewohnheit und Gesinnung. Der Reiter tut gut daran sie nicht zu ändern. Er achtet und beachtet die Haltung des Pferdes und gibt ihr einen Rahmen.

The horse, depending on its strength, frame of mind and habituation, will seek a particular posture as soon as the rider has mounted. The rider does well to monitor this posture, rather than change it, and give it a proper frame. 

Im großen Ganzen wird das Pferd lang und niedrig sein solange es noch unsicher und schwach ist. Es wird sich heben sobald es sich kräftigt. Es wird Spannungen in Dehnungshaltung abbauen wollen und beim Biegen die Arbeitshaltung wählen.

Bei weichen, langen Pferden funktioniert die natürliche Entwicklung von lang/niegrig zum Heben der Vorhand nicht von selbst. Ebenso wenig in Pferden, die auf der Vorhand geritten werden. Sie müssen speziell für die erhabene Haltung vorbereitet werden.

With long, weak horses and with those who have been trained on the forehand the natural progression from long and low to elevation not longer works. Such horses need to train elevation specifically.
