The question remains if Pinochio would have overcome the problems of his right hind leg, had I stuck
- to the concept of the truly light rein
- to proper procedures, i.e. making every step sure, as Beudant calls it.
Will I in the fall have the patience, the hand and the will to go for Beudant's way? To me, a German rider, it is frustrating and holds pitfalls. I rely on the horse's forward motion under saddle, on the lunge and/or in liberty to test the quality of my work in the saddle. How will I be able to detect faults without this forward test? Will just the horse's d'accord suffice.
On the other hand the level of stress on the horses' skeletons has become evident. They are willing but not young. Six weeks in the walk reins long was my concept before the introduction of the explicit rein. So why abandon this concept now?
